Somebody is speaking in a language you do not know well. You can still follow every word, in your own language, on your own phone. You need nothing else.
You do not have to ask anyone, and you do not have to say that you need help.
Open your phone camera and point it at the QR code on the screen, the wall, or the paper in your hand. Tap the link that appears. If somebody sent you the link, tap that instead.
Find your language in the list. Each one is written in its own letters, so yours is easy to spot.
The captions appear on your screen as the speaker talks. Put in an earphone and turn on Listening to hear a voice in your language.
When the speaker quotes a verse or uses an expression you might not know, a Smart Hint explains it under the captions.
You can join at any moment, even after it has started. The captions pick up from where the room is now. And you do not have to be in the building: with the link, you can follow from home, from a hospital bed, or on the move.
“Everyone was very happy about the intuitive use of the online app …”
Vineyard Speyer
“Especially exciting: the ‘smart hints’! We had speakers who used many typical German idioms which can not be easily translated. So those hints were very helpful, and our foreign listeners felt much more part of the community when funny idioms made the German laugh …”
Vineyard Speyer
“It was impressive to have a translation that could even follow sayings and Danish expressions that could not be translated directly, because then it came as an explanatory text box [Smart Hints], so you understood everything that was going on anyway.”
Lead pastor, Åbenkirke Odense
His own words, in Danish:
Det var imponerende med en oversættelse, som endda kunne følge talemåder og danske udtryk, som ikke kunne direkte oversættes, for så kom det som en forklarende tekstboks, så man alligevel forstod alt der foregik.
It works in the browser of the phone you already have, old or new.
“We have had it in use practically every Sunday, though our usage is not that large. Right now we have a young man who fled from Ukraine and comes on Sundays. His English is not that strong, so it is fantastic to be able to give him the chance to follow along in Ukrainian. Even though it is only him, we currently offer Ukrainian and English.”
Chairman, Din Frikirke, Haderslev
His own words, in Danish:
Vi har haft det i brug stort set alle søndage, men vores forbrug er ikke så stort. Vi har pt. en ung fyr som er flygtet fra Ukraine som deltager om søndagen. Hans engelsk er ikke så stærkt, så det er fantastisk at kunne give ham muligheden for at være med på ukrainsk! Selvom det kun er ham, så tilbyder vi derfor i øjeblikket ukrainsk og engelsk.
Our demo room is live day and night. Join it exactly the way you would join a real one.
“I also used the ‘Invite’ function several times … very helpful feature when the QR-code is not at hand …”
Vineyard Speyer
Many rooms also show the captions on a screen or TV, so people without a phone in hand can follow too.
No. MulingStream opens in your phone browser when you scan the code or tap the link. There is nothing to install.
No. You are not asked for anything. You tap the link and choose a language. That is all.
No, never. The church or the organiser pays for the room. Scanning the code, changing language and listening are free for you.
Both. Read the captions, or turn on Listening to hear a voice in your language. Most languages have a voice; a few can be read but not yet heard. You can switch at any time.
Read the captions instead. Many people prefer reading, and you will not miss anything.
Almost certainly. If your phone can open a web page, it can do this.
Yes. Everyone chooses their own language on their own phone, so a whole row can follow in several languages at the same time.
Yes. Scan the code whenever you arrive. You start from the moment you join, and you do not have to wait for anything.
Wait a few seconds. It reconnects on its own and picks up where the room is now. You can use the Wi-Fi of the place or your own mobile data.
That is a Smart Hint. When the speaker quotes a Bible verse, the hint shows the verse from a Bible in your language. When they use an expression that does not translate word for word, the hint explains what it means.
The whole picture, from the speaker to every phone.
