We are building something churches have never had

Translation that runs at every gathering and costs nothing until somebody actually listens. Prepaid, flexible, never expiring, every feature included, for the whole room, with every guest choosing their own language on the spot. Nobody has offered churches all of this together before. We are building it now.

For the first time, a church will be able to switch translation on for every gathering, every week, and pay only when somebody actually needs it.

That sentence sounds simple. It has never been true before. Today we are telling you what we are building, why, and why we believe nobody has offered churches anything like it.

The question we kept hearing

Since we started, churches have asked us the same question in a dozen ways: how do we offer translation every Sunday when we only need it some Sundays?

The guest who needs Persian does not book ahead. The family from Ukraine does not tell you they are coming. A church cannot know which Sunday someone walks in needing another language, so the only way to be ready is to have translation running every time. And every way of paying for translation until now made that expensive: an interpreter has to be booked for each service, equipment has to be bought up front, and a subscription charges the same in a quiet month as in a full one.

So churches did the sensible thing. They switched translation on for the Sundays they expected to need it, and it was off on the Sunday nobody expected.

The only way to be ready is to have translation running every time. So being ready has to be free.

What we are building: church passes

A church pass is prepaid translation for one gathering, a whole day or a whole week. You buy passes when you want, keep them in your account, and use one when you start the room. No monthly plan, no contract, no minutes counting down while the pastor speaks.

What makes it different is not one feature. It is that all of these come together, for the first time:

Every feature included

Every feature is included in every pass. There are no add-ons, no premium tier and nothing held back for a more expensive plan. Faithful translation that carries the meaning and not only the words, Smart Hints that show the verse the pastor quoted, listening and reading along, every language a guest chooses: whichever pass you use, your church gets all of it.

Free until somebody listens

This is the heart of it. A pass is only spent when someone actually listens.

You start the translation at the beginning of every gathering and leave it running. If nobody needed another language that week, nothing is used, and the pass waits in your account for the next time. And there is a grace period built in: a pass only counts once guests have really been listening for a few minutes. A volunteer testing the sound before the service, or a guest who opens the link and closes it again, does not spend anything.

That changes the decision completely. The question is no longer "is it worth paying for translation this week?" It becomes "why would we ever switch it off?"

Flexible, because no two weeks are the same

A church year is not even. There is the ordinary Sunday, the baptism with relatives from abroad, the summer camp, the Easter service when the whole city comes, the conference you host once a year. So the passes come in shapes that match those weeks: one for a single service, one for everything you run in a day, one for a whole week.

You mix them however your year actually looks, and because passes never expire, nothing is lost if a quiet season comes. The passes you bought in spring are still there at Christmas.

For the whole room, in any language they bring

A pass is never per person. One pass covers the whole gathering and everyone listening to it, whether that is one guest or a hundred.

And nobody picks the languages in advance. Each guest opens the link on their own phone, chooses their language right there, and listens or reads along. The guest who walks in needing Tigrinya and the one who needs Portuguese are both covered by the same pass, on the same Sunday, without anyone at the church having to know they were coming. Choose from 200+ languages, see the full list.

Why this is a first

Others sell translation by the hour, with a fixed number of languages, or with a slider to choose your usage in advance, which is credits by another name. Nobody has ever put it together like this: prepaid passes instead of a subscription, free until someone actually listens, with a grace period, never expiring, covering the whole gathering, with flexible languages that every guest chooses on the spot. This is the first time all of these pricing features come together as one pass, and nobody did it before us.

We are building them together because together is what solves the problem. Take any one away and a church is back to guessing which Sundays to switch translation on.

When

We are building church passes now, and the first churches will use them in a few weeks. If you lead a church and want to be among the first, we would love to hear from you.

Be among the first churches

Tell us about your church and the languages in your room, and we will let you know the moment passes are ready.
